About Us:
ROCKET is a growing technology company with more than a decade of success delivering projects, services and solutions of all shapes for broadcasters and media companies of all sizes.
We specialize in building out powerful media pipeline, management, automation, and production solutions by combining innovative thinking, hands-on collaboration, service-forward client interaction, and solid design and implementation fundamentals with diverse and hard-earned industry experience. Video, audio, data; live, pre-, or post; remote, on-prem, on-cloud – we've done it and we've got a story to tell (and some we can't).
Our work includes partnerships and projects with world-class sports and entertainment entities, boutique production and distribution players, educational institutions, houses of worship, and anyone else who comes to us with a challenge. From small tasks to multi-year projects, from conception and design to delivery, handover, and support, we leverage our alignment and tight co-operation with best-in-class application, appliance, and platform vendors around the world to get our clients what they need, how and when they need it.
And now we're expanding.
Okay, So What Now?
In order to expand, we need your talent.
Want to take on a new kind of broadcast media and software engineering in a changing industry?
Did you get into the industry to solve problems? Like working with a dynamic team of driven folks with broad skillsets doing what it takes to design and deliver the best product? Love whiteboarding, collaboration, sharing ideas, and bringing innovation to bear on media challenges old and new? Enjoy feeling like the work you do is empowering other talented people? Like celebrating wins and working on a team who are all pulling in the same direction?
Are you the best on your team? Always relied upon in crunch-time? Want to work with a team of similar achievers and get credit and appreciation for what you bring to the table?
Do you look at manual processes and think about how to automate them? Do you thrive when the problem crosses boundaries - a bit of code here, some network troubleshooting there, a database query to finish it off? Do you get a kick out of figuring out why something isn't working and then making sure it never breaks the same way again? That's the instinct we're looking for.
Want a mentor? Want help avoiding the mistakes we've made and seen in our career? Need a guy with a big beard to whom you can vent and trade battle stories? Whether you’re a few years in or still finding your feet, if you’ve got a growth mindset and the hunger to learn, we want to hear from you.
At ROCKET we want folks whose first inclination is to say "yes, you can do that - here's how". "We can make that happen, let us show you." "Sounds like a challenge, let's sit down and figure it out." "Okay, let's start."
What's more fun than that?

What You'll Do:
-
Flex your media dev skillset on challenges large and small.
-
Innovate at the rate of the industry, onboarding new technology and figuring out how it can improve the workflows of our clientele.
-
Work with our internal team and a diverse client-base to develop, design, and deliver bespoke solutions for the folks who do the work at all levels.
-
Collaborate with industry leading media companies across North American and beyond.
-
Thrive in a continuous learning environment where information and innovation are shared and all ideas are welcome.
-
Get involved in the business from A to Z. No more silos, no more living in the dark, no more wondering what is going on.
-
Build and maintain monitoring dashboards and visibility tools that surface what matters – on a live show, knowing what's happening is as important as making it happen.
-
Integrate code, machine learning and AI solutions to 10x existing production pipelines, surface underlying trends, create rich metadata indexes, or any other use case our partners come to us with.
-
Work in a dynamic Toronto neighbourhood with everything you need within walking distance.

What We're Looking For:
-
Top problem solvers with industry experience.
-
Familiarity with industry players in vendor, broadcaster, and media spaces. Who has great stuff? Who is pushing the envelope? Seen anything cool lately?
-
Ability to interface directly with clients in service of their needs – the more we understand their ask the better we can respond to it. Be curious!
-
Communication experts. We thrive on sharing. You like making the work visible. You like explainers and summaries, whiteboards and diagrams.
-
Solid C# and object-oriented programming fundamentals - clean, modular code that others can read, maintain, and build on.
-
Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, and the ELK Stack - building dashboards, writing queries, and understanding what the metrics are actually telling you end to end.
-
Python, Windows PowerShell, and PHP scripting for automation and integration work. If a process is manual and repetitive, you've probably already thought of a better way.
-
Comfortable in both Windows and Linux environments, at ease with databases - queries, data structure, how information is stored and moved.
-
Enough networking fundamentals to understand what is happening on the wire and to diagnose when something isn't.
-
Git in a team environment - branching, pull requests, code review. Committing to main is not a workflow.
-
Solid understanding of APIs and data flow — including REST APIs, handling authentication (tokens), and integrating systems.
-
Awareness of user experience — thinking about how applications are used from an end-user or operator perspective.

Don’t check every box? That’s okay. ROCKET is explicitly and by necessity a growing/teaching organization. We don’t expect you to arrive with every skill — we expect you to bring the instincts, the curiosity, and the drive. The rest we learn and build together.

Bonus Points For:
-
Prior media project delivery experience. Hairier the better.
-
Familiarity with broadcast facilities: from acquisition to production and distribution to presentation.
-
Coding and automation ability – from low-code workflow builders and visual scripting tools all the way up to full development. C# a big plus.
-
Expertise in media delivery pipelines – point A to point Z and everything in-between.
-
Knowledge of virtualisation and containerization technologies.
-
Comfort with media asset movement and management strategies and platforms.
-
Hands-on time with broadcast orchestration platforms and element management systems. Dataminer experience is a real asset.
-
Troubleshooting experience in media environments.
-
AWS/Azure experience.
-
Understanding of the cool stuff: ST-2110 signal distribution, network and application orchestration, production and master control automation, HDR and WCG, virtual and augmented production.
-
Knowledge of live production and an understanding of media demands. The show goes to air when it goes to air, ready or not – let's make sure it's ready!
-
Cisco/Arista experience, or comfort with SNMP and custom exporters - understanding how to pull the right data out of infrastructure.
-
A genuinely generalist approach - equally at home writing code, digging into infrastructure, reading a dashboard, or tracing a network issue. You don't stop at the boundary of your lane.
-
Openness to learning other systems and applications used in the media/broadcast industry — it’s a big ol’ world out there and we never stop building out our toolkit.
Why Join Us:

-
Collaborative, innovative, tech-friendly culture with service-first attitude, both internal and external.
-
Join a team where commitments mean something. Our reputation rests on our ability to deliver to our clients. No empty promises, no smoke and mirrors, no vapourware.
